ABOUT US

From a young age, Becky has always enjoyed working with livestock at the family farm in Great Bromley. When she turned 17 she decided to take up an apprenticeship role as a butcher, to understand more about the meat she was producing.

Following her apprenticeship, Becky travelled to Australia to work at a cattle station, where she spent two seasons learning even more about livestock. Returning to the UK, Becky's dream was to help people understand about meat; where it was from and the different cuts available. She completed her Advanced level Apprenticeship in Meat and Poultry with M.E.A.T Ipswich in 2015. In January 2017 Becky's Butchers opened, offering people with livestock the chance to have their meat butchered to the highest standard. In 2021, Becky won the 'Rising Star' category of the Women in Meat Industry Awards. A great success achieved!

Some of the beef and lamb available in the shop is produced on site at our farm in Great Bromley, alongside locally sourced meats produced in Essex - so you can be sure that the food miles are as low as possible!

Our beef is reared on our farm. We currently produce Aberdeen Angus x Limousin and Belgian Blues. In the winter we bring our cows into the barn to allow our fields to grow and replenish. Whilst they are in we feed them on silage which is grown on the farm, and a balanced diet of mixed cereals and other straight feeds.

Our sheep live outside nearly all year round. Our texel ewes and rams spend their time grazing the pasture around the farm and neighbouring fields. They come into the barn only to lamb, around February-March.
